Compression pumps are frequently used to treat patients with venous stasis ulcers, lymphedema (extreme swelling), and blood clots, also known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Compression pumps are used for acute (temporary, hospital) or chronic care (long term, often at home or an extended care facility). These pumps differ in the cycle time of the squeeze and are intended to treat venous insufficiency, lymphedema, or the treatment of DVTs. Both increase blood and lymphatic flow.
NOTE:- A lymphedema pump should not be used to treat DVT and vice versa because Lymphedema and DVT pumps are not interchangeable.
