What is DVT Pump ?
DVT pumps are pneumatic compression pumps used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which can be deadly. A DVT Pumps are mainly used for the treatment of blood clots in the acute hospital setting. By varying leg compression, the pump simulates normal walking-like activities. The standard DVT pump has a cycle time of 12 seconds for inflation and 48 seconds for deflation. The cycle timing allows for effective venous blood movement out of the limb while allowing enough time for venous refill before the next inflation cycle. The pressure setting of 40 mmHg is recommended. The sleeves range in length from the ankle to the lower thigh or from the ankle to the upper thigh.
What is DVT ?
Deep Vein Thrombosis is known as DVT. It is a state where there is a deep vein blockage, caused by long lengths of little or no body movement. Symptoms may differ, even if some have no symptoms. DVT can be dangerous because these blockages can travel to the lungs and can cause lung embolism that is life-threatening.
