What Is a Bipap Machine ?

The Bipap machine is used for to enhance patient breathing by supplying pressurized air to the patient through a patient circuit. The device is configured to sense the patient's airflow in the circuit, and it adjusts the airflow to enhance inhalation and exhalation and this therapy known as Bipap therapy. Enhance inhalation and exhalation is the basic difference between Bipap and Cpap, that makes it different from CPAP machine. A Bipap machine comes with different Bipap modes, and these modes help you to  make your therapy more comfortable.

What is a Bipap machine used For?

The BiPAP device is designed to treat patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and respiratory insufficiency with non-invasive ventilatory support. The device can be used at a hospital or at home, or mobile, such as in a wheelchair or during traveling. 

A bipap machine is used for reduction in Sleep apnoeas, hypopneas, and tiredness, as well as an enhanced quality of life. Use of Bipap machine includes :

  • Used For reduction in Sleep apnoeas, hypopneas, and tiredness.
  • Respiratory insufficiency, such as Chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), Pneumonia, Asthma flare-up, Poor breathing after an operation, Neurological disease that disturbs breathing.

When should BiPAP not be used? 

During Bipap therapy use, if any of the following factors are imposed, positive airway pressure therapy may be contraindicated.

  • Severe bullous lung disease
  • pneumothorax or pneumomediastinum
  • pathologically low blood pressure, particularly if associated with intravascular volume depletion
  • dehydration
  • cerebrospinal fluid leak, recent cranial surgery, or trauma.
  • Allergy or hypersensitivity to the mask materials, in which the risk of an allergic reaction surpasses the benefit of ventilatory support.
